Ready to take your diving skills to new heights? The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is your fast-track path to becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI). This action-packed program combines the PADI Assistant Instructor and OWSI courses to give you essential knowledge, hands-on experience, and real-world teaching skills.

What to Expect: An immersive 8-day course or 8-week online sessions, where you'll dive into practical workshops, written assessments, and dry-run presentations to perfect your teaching and diving abilities.

Once you’ve rocked the PADI IDC course, it’s time to shine at the PADI Instructor Exam (IE) of your choice! This is your chance to showcase your newly honed skills, and once you pass, you’ll officially begin your journey as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor—get ready to inspire and teach divers around the world!

You will also need to have an active

EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE EFR PRIMARY & SECONDARY CARE INSTRUCTOR certification in order to teach after your IE. This is a standalone course which is included in your IDC.

THE ADVENTURE DOSENT STOP THERE... 

You will have the chance to continue your education by gaining Instructor Speciality ratings through the MASTER SCUBA DIVER TRAINER (MSDT) preparation course.If you already hold an Instructor certification from another scuba training agency, you will be able to complete a crossover by just completing the OWSI portion of the IDC. PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Course Prerequisites

The IE prerequisites have also been included below, so that as soon as you complete the IDC, you will be eligible to join an IE and start teaching as soon as possible.

  • Minimum age: 18 years old.

  • Certified diver for at least 6 months.

  • Proof of 100 logged dives — with experience of deep diving, night diving and underwater navigation.

  • Hold a PADI Divemaster certification (or equivalent from another dive training organisation).

  • Hold fit-to-dive medical that has been signed by a physician within the last 6 months.

  • Be an in status certified in Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care Instructor (or equivalent from another agency).

  • Provide documentation for any non PADI certifications as required — entry level, advanced, rescue and leadership level.
